Rob Golf

Debbie's cousin, Rob, invented a yard game which is a variation of horse shoes. Instead of a peg in the ground, the target is a rack with a number of horizontal bars.

He calls it Rob Golf. Hey he invented it, he can call it anything he wants.











Instead of a horse shoe to throw, you toss a short piece of rope with golf balls at both ends. It is like a short boleadoras (see def below). You lob, toss or throw the balls at the rack. If it loops over a bar and stays there after your opponent has taken all his turns, then you score . See pic above. Scoring is based upon the bar you stay on. The top bar is the easiest, the next one down is harder etc. In the pic to the left you can see one being thrown. The woman in the picture is Deb's Aunt Margaret.


Boleadoras

The boleadoras were originally a weapon used by the indigenous people and adopted by the gauchos, to entrap fleeing animals. The weapon was basically a lasso, with three balls (originally rocks and later wood) bound and suspended from rawhide strips and swung three at a time in a whirling motion to entrap the neck or feet of a fleeing animal (or enemy).
