CNE

Like many of you who grew up in Toronto., the CNE holds a special place in our memories. Deb and I have not been to the EX for years but decided to go down on Saturday to see what the grand lady had to offer.

The Labour Day weekend is the air show and coupled with good weather, the place was packed. We have to be honest though and say that within a couple of hours we saw everything worthwhile seeing. Still it was great to be down by the lake and eating ice cream waffles, Tiny Tom Donuts and snow cones. Maybe it's the food I remember.

Anyway here are some pics from the day.

The first is an aerial display and some sky writing.

The second is a pic of probably the most famous building at the EX: the Food Building. Do you remember going there Carol??

The Ex is also a place to see novelty acts. We came across the Harmonicats. Now where else in Canada are you going to see an act like this??? I have video of their act above.

Lastly there is a pic of Deb getting a free facial treatment. I suppose that is what the Ex is now mostly about: people trying to sell you something.

The Food Building was my absolute favourite. Wonder if they still have Dr. Duck Pills - little coloured jarred candies - with a prescription that reads "take two for making your bed" " take one for washing the dishes", etc. What a way to get kids to clean - but it worked.
